Loki Meat Thermometer

UX | Web | Video | Kickstarter Project

Loki is a wifi-based thermometer with a companion mobile app. We started this project by creating the UX for the mobile app and ended up creating the app, a website, packaging, photography, a Kickstarter video and the Kickstarter project itself.

Mobile App

We started off by designing the mobile app for them. It’s got a total of 4 individual probes that measure two temperatures each - both an internal temperature of the meat you’re cooking along with ambient temperature as well.

The visual Temperature curve makes it super easy to see what's going on with your cook. Especially if someting goes wrong (if you run out of fuel, for instance), you can see it right away.

The Design

We designed it so as you tap and slide your finger along the temperature curve, you can see the exact internal and ambient temperature at the same time. You can either pick your type of meat and weight, and the app will do the timing for you to get a perfect cook - or you can go full manual and just monitor your cook as you got.

You can also set alerts for high and low temperature, an alarm for a specific time or even set it to warn you if your smoke stalls. There's also and there’s even a social feed where you can share your cooks with photos.

Kickstarter

They liked the app design so much, they asked us to create a Kickstarter project for them. We did a bunch of photography of the Loki hardware and some lifestyle shots for the site. We also produced and shot their Kickstarter video for them.

Website

Of course, they needed a website to accompany the Kickstarter campaign. We created the website as an informational piece as a place for the Kickstarter participants to get more information and conversely, they wanted a place to sign people up for a newsletter before the campaign started so when it did finally start, they could hit the ground running.
